While in school, I studied archaeology and anthropology, intending to continue on to a Ph.D in anthropology.  I was fascinated by the questions of culture, and how and why people behaved as they did.

Sometimes, though, paths change.   I detoured from my original plan and landed in Product Design.   I took experience in finding behavioral patterns in excavation and history to the digital world.  My approach to product design developed as applied anthropology, exploring in how people use and interact with digital products, how to discover and follow their paths and patterns, and how to shape those patterns to be more satisfying, effective, and enjoyable.

Design is a problem solving career.   The challenges that I enjoy most are those that focus on behavioral design.  Why does someone click that link, read that page, share that video?

I’ve been fortunate to have worked on a wide variety of projects: desktop and mobile; java, windows, mac and web; content and application; consumer facing and back end.   I have worked onprogramming tools, marketing sites, search interactions, local and mapping products, video watching apps, and community tools.
